| Product Details | Green Barley Grass Juice Made BetterAIM BarleyLife provides daily nutrition in the form of an all-natural green barley barleygrass juice powder concentrate. Taking AIM BarleyLife helps keep your body systems in balance and helps you develop a strong foundation for overall health. Attention to Detail
Barley Grass (Barleygrass)Barley grass is the only vegetation on earth than can supply sole nutritional support throughout our lives. Agronomists believe this ancient cereal grass was cultivated as early as 7000 B.C. - most likely in southwestern Asia. Barleygrass was first known in the West for the barley green it produces and is mentioned as early as 2800 B.C. Barley is also mentioned in the Bible no fewer than 32 times. Barley Grass vs. Barley GrainGreen grasses such as Barley Grass contain the greatest nutrition before entering the reproductive cycle. In order to create barley grain, the grass has to channel nutrition toward the seed heads which depletes its nutritional value. By harvesting barley grass before this cycle occurs, the grass is at its peak nutritional value and contains approximately the same minerals and vitamins as dark green vegetables. In AIM BarleyLife, these grasses are juiced and concentrated offering a superior nutritional product. Beta-Carotene (Vitamin A)According to the United States Department of Agriculture's Nutrient Database, barley contains 22 IU of Vitamin A per 100g whereas barley flour has no Vitamin A. In contrast, AIM BarleyLife contains 25 times the beta carotene of broccoli and 2 1/2 times that of raw carrots (equivalent raw weights) - a total of 19,700 IU of Vitamin A per 100g. This important antioxidant has been implicated with cardiovascular health, is known to protect cells and may have anti-cancer benefits. CalciumCalcium plays an important role in maintaining healthy bones and AIM BarleyLife contains 730mg of calcium per 100g. This is over 7 times more calcium than is found in raw broccoli (equivalent raw weight). In comparison, barley contains only 33mg of calcium per 100g. Clearly, the concentrated juiced grasses of AIM BarleyLife provides significant nutritional benefits. Barley Grass NutrientsBarley grass contains a wide range of vitamins and minerals, proteins, chlorophyll, enzymes, phytochemicals and amino acids (including 8 that are essential to our diets). It is considered to offer the most nutrition of any of the green grasses. EnzymesEnzymes are not found in cooked or processed foods. Enzymes are essential for the production of energy at the cellular level, the absorption of digested nutrients and the digestive process along with the thousands of chemical reactions that occur throughout the body. Enzymes are also responsible for the replenishing and rebuilding of the body requirements for metabolism. Green barley leaves contain a wide variety of enzymes. The enzyme SOD (Superoxide Dismutase) is a powerful antioxidant that is believed to provide a defense against free radicals (especially the prolific superoxide) by slowing the rate of cell destruction. Superoxide free radicals are thought to be responsible for inflammation in the joints due to breakdown of synovial fluid. Current clinical research regarding SOD is centered around gout, arthritis and bursitis. Cataracts and other degenerative diseases have also been associated with low levels of SOD. It is also believed that SOD can prevent sunburn and help the body more effectively use manganese, zinc and copper. The heat sensitive nature of SOD lends itself to being used as a yardstick to measure overall enzymatic activity. The presence of active SOD in food is an indication that other enzymes are also in an active state. Amino Acids and ProteinsAmino acids are the building blocks of proteins and are necessary for cell regeneration and building along with daily energy production. The proteins found in green barley leaves have the added benefit of being polypeptides which are smaller proteins that are directly absorbed by the blood and help promote cell metabolism. PhytochemicalsPhytochemicals are plant chemicals that are believed to be essential to health. They have been associated with the prevention and/or treatment of cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. Phytochemicals are also associated with the prevention and/or treatment of other ailments including osteoporosis, neural tube defects, arthritis, abnormal bowel function, and numerous chronic conditions. ChlorophyllChlorophyll is also found in green barley grass. Chlorophyll has been found to remove carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide (by-products of pollution and respiration) along with reducing urinary, fecal and body odor in geriatric patients. It also possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties along with an ability to stimulate tissue growth and stimulate red blood cells in connection with the body's oxygen supply. An article in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute (Jan. 4 1995) found that chlorophyll consumption by laboratory animals reduced absorption of the carcinogens polycyclic hydrocarbons (found in barbecued and smoked foods), aflatoxin (a mold on peanuts) and heterocyclic amines (found in cooked muscle meats). The chlorophyll limited the bioavailability of the carcinogens by forming complex compounds with the carcinogens while they were still in the digestive tract. Folic AcidThree servings a day of AIM BarleyLife provides approximately 20% of your reference daily intake (RDI) of folic acid. Folic acid is a form of folate (a water-soluble Vitamin B that occurs naturally in food) that is found in some foods and also in supplements. Folic acid helps maintain and produce new cells which is especially important during infancy and pregnancy when there are periods of rapid cell division and growth. Folic acid is required to make RNA and DNA, the building blocks of cells, and research has shown that women who take folic acid before and during pregnancy have a 70 percent reduction in incidents of spina bifida and other neural tube defects. Folic acid also helps prevent DNA changes that may lead to cancer. Children and adults both need folate to prevent anemia and make normal red blood cells. Lutonarin and SaponarinLutonarin (7-O-GIO) and Saponarin (7-O-GIV) are two very powerful antioxidants that are found in AIM BarleyLife. Lutonarin is an especially powerful superior antioxidant that is found in high concentrations in AIM BarleyLife. Dr. Ken Markham of Industrial Research, Ltd. in New Zealand, has observed that lutonarin and saponarin content in barley leaves increases with UV exposure possible indicating that they may provide antioxidant protection against environmental stresses. Vitamin A (Beta-Carotene)The beta-carotene found in AIM BarleyLife is the most effective of the carotenoids for conversion to vitamin A in the body. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in vision, immune functions, reproduction, red blood cell production, and growth and development. It also plays an important role in the development and maintenance of healthy hair, skin and mucous membranes along with being an important antioxidant known to protect the cells. Vitamin A has been implicated to play a role in cardiovascular health and may also provide anti-cancer benefits. Vitamin KAIM BarleyLife provides 84-100% of your reference daily intake (RDI) of Vitamin K per serving. Vitamin K is a fat-soluble vitamin necessary for proper blood clotting. Recent studies have also shown positive results in relation to vitamin K and the maintenance of adequate bone density to protect against osteoporosis and hip fracture in postmenopausal women. The Value of Barley GrassResearch has found that green barley extract provides immune system support, helps lower cholesterol, and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity. AlkalinityGreen barley grass has a high alkalizing effect that helps maintain balance in the ratio between acidity and alkalinity in our body fluids. Our cells cannot adequately function if our bodies pH level (which measures acidity and alkalinity) is not in a narrow range. Most processed foods are acidic and can upset this delicate balance. Green barley grass contains buffer minerals that can help maintain a healthy pH level in our bodies by neutralizing acidic materials. These minerals include magnesium, sodium potassium and calcium. Unique Processing MethodAIM uses an advanced processing technology that maximizes the potency of the nutrients in barley grass and prevents their oxidization. Within minutes of harvesting the barley grass with state-of-the-art equipment, the leaves are juiced (not milled as found in many other barley grass products) and processed using an advanced cool processing method for maximum nutrition and freshness. Maltodextrin is added to the juice to stabilize and maintain the nutrients while acting as a buffer between the enzymes and other molecules. The juice is then spray-dried using a special low-temperature process that preserves the delicate balance of phytochemicals and nutrients. The end result is AIM BarleyLife. |
